Department of Music Education
Starting its education in the 1993-1994 academic year, the Department of Music Education, despite being ninth in terms of its opening year among higher education institutions that train music teachers, has reached a proud position in terms of both its students, faculty members and physical environment, and the number and quality of its graduates. The Department of Music Education, in addition to education and training, leads various activities capable of responding to the cultural/artistic needs of the region it is located in and the faculty students, and takes part in these activities. Among these, superior quality participations exhibited at various national and international events can be mentioned. Among the successful participations that can be considered an important indicator of the academic development level, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards received in various categories in National Folk Music Choir competitions, 2nd place (Silver Medal) award received in the International Choirs Competition held in the Czech Republic, 1st place in the 13th International "Maestro Zachari Mednikarov" choir festival/competition held in Bulgaria, various concerts with the support of the Ministry of Culture at the 14th International "Universitas Cantat" choir festival held in Poland, Turkey Polyphonic Choirs Festival, Mozart Academy and SANSEV festival concerts.
Since its establishment, traditional end-of-year concerts and "Wednesday Concerts" are organized every two weeks throughout the year. Thus, an environment is created aimed at displaying the artistic development of the students and maximizing their cultural accumulation. Through these activities, it is also aimed to increase the existing accumulation related to music education and culture in Burdur and its surroundings and to fulfill the universities' mission to lead the society. Since the day it was opened, the Faculty of Education Department of Music Education has been proudly fulfilling this mission with a sense of responsibility and successfully. The aim of the institution is to train music teachers for primary and secondary education institutions in the Turkish National Education System. Among its graduates, there are music teachers who work as staff and paid in the Music Departments of Anatolian Fine Arts High Schools, and faculty members in the Faculties of Education and Fine Arts.
The Department of Music Education has a faculty capable of effectively implementing the YÖK framework program. Its staff includes; 8 professors, 2 associate professors, 3 doctorate faculty members and 2 instructors.
The Department of Music Education also has the necessary physical capacity to plan and carry out education, training and artistic activities.
There are 1 choir classroom, 1 orchestra hall, 12 individual piano practice rooms, 6 individual instrument practice rooms, 3 classrooms (with piano). Among the instruments in the inventory; there are 1 quarter-tail piano, 2 digital pianos, 18 console pianos and various types and numbers of educational instruments (mandolin, Orff instruments, percussion instruments, etc.).
