Faculty of Education 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester Academic Board Meeting Held

The academic board of the Faculty of Education for the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, held on October 10, 2023, started with the opening speech of the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Firdevs SAVİ ÇAKAR, in line with the agenda below. In her speech, she expressed her wishes for a successful education and training period.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Firdevs SAVİ ÇAKAR touched upon the agenda items, stating that during the fall semester education and training process, 2 programs are implemented in our faculty, with 1st and 2nd-year students subject to the 2022 updated undergraduate program; and 3rd and 4th-year students continuing under the 2018 program. She mentioned that due to the update in the academic calendar by YÖK, education and training will be conducted face-to-face, YÖK courses will be online, but all exams will be held face-to-face. She stated that course registrations have been extended until October 13, and emphasized the necessity of reviewing the academic calendar. She stressed the importance of keeping up-to-date with our Senate decisions; many new decisions such as the Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations / some guidelines / newly established coordinatorships and updates to guidelines have been made in the Senate, and these decisions have been communicated to all teaching staff through EBYS and published on our university's WEB page, and must be read.

The other agenda items were discussed. It was stated that our university is in the accreditation process and with the determination of YÖKAK's evaluation calendar, the evaluation process consists of two parts: Preliminary Visit and Field Visit. The preliminary visit will be conducted on October 16, 2023, for one day, as requested by the head of the evaluation team. In this context, it is important to address the deficiencies in all units, and it is important to inform both our teachers and students through our advisors or as a department. For this purpose, information meetings will be planned both at the deanery level and to include the departments. She emphasized the need to address the deficiencies related to the education and training process in all our units. She reminded that at the beginning of the term, the ECTS information package should be updated by the teaching staff, information should be provided to the students, and the advisory hours should be shared.

She stated that with the ongoing accreditation process in our faculty, planning will be made for the field visit with the determination of the EPDAD evaluation team for the evaluation of 4 programs this term. She mentioned the necessity of following YÖK decisions, YÖK decided to reduce pedagogical formation education and teaching practice to one term. Information was provided on this matter. She emphasized the importance of determining suggestions for the planning of events to be held within the scope of the 100th Anniversary celebrations in the faculty and the importance of orientation studies.

Within the scope of applied courses in the faculty; the teaching practice guide, community service applications guide, and school observation course application guide have been updated and these guides are updated by the units every year and published on the website, and this year the school observation course guide was created. She stated that it is very important for the units to have a guide suitable for the structure of their own programs. She emphasized the importance of conducting advisory work effectively within the scope of the academic advisory directive.

The 2nd INER CONGRESS 2023 organized by our faculty will be held on December 7-9, and the event is supported by TUBITAK. She said that we expect the participation of all our teachers during the congress process. She reminded that within the scope of YÖK's action plan to combat addiction, regular anti-addiction activities should be carried out in our units.
